The Learning is in the Doing.

I don’t know who said this originally to quote them, or if it’s just one of those wise old sayings, but I have recently realized how much truth there really is in this statement.

You won’t know what you don’t know until you start doing.

Once you sit down to do something, you will realize what needs to be done before you can get started.  You’ll look it up, google it, figure it out, try again, do it better than before, make a massive error that makes you feel like quitting because you just ‘lost’ all of the work on that file because you can’t redo an undo  (*ahem*).

But.

But, what if you don’t give up?

What if you take a break, and a deep breath, and do it again?

And this time you know how to do it without looking it up.

What if you can’t remember exactly how you did the last one, and you are kicking yourself for not having a copy of the old file or at least a print, but you get over that and keep going?

And what if the next one was even better than the first one that you lost and wanted to weep over?

But.

But what if you never did it because you didn’t know how?

How will you ever know what you didn’t know in order to justify getting started?

Rachelle

ACTIONABLE STEP: What is that thing?  I don’t know what it is, but I bet you do.  What is that thing that has been floating around in your head that you have always wanted to do but didn’t know how?  Can you start it today?  The learning is in the doing.  You’ll know more tomorrow – if you start today.
